U-M Announces 2017-18 Non-Conference Schedule, Season Ticket Information

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey team announced today (Thursday, July 13) its non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2017-18 season. The schedule features three weekend home series and a weekend trip to New York.
The Wolverines open up the season with an exhibition game against Western Ontario on Sept. 30 at Yost Ice Arena.
The first regular season action for the Maize and Blue comes the following weekend when U-M travels to New York for road games against St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Michigan takes on St. Lawrence on Oct. 6 in Canton, New York, where the Wolverines are 12-2-1 all-time against the Saints. The last meeting between the two schools came in 2011 and ended in a 10-3 Michigan victory at Yost.
The next night Michigan travels down the road to Potsdam, New York, to face off against Clarkson. The Wolverines are 3-1-0 against the Golden Knights, including a 2-0-0 record on the road. The last matchup between the two schools came at the 2008 NCAA East Regional. Michigan won 2-0.
The Wolverines return to action later in October with a weekend series against Vermont on Oct. 20-21 in Ann Arbor, marking the first trip to Yost for Vermont. U-M will be looking for revenge against the Catamounts after Vermont won the first matchup between the two schools last season in Vermont (3-0).
The first week in November kicks off with a series against former CCHA foe Ferris State on Thursday, Nov. 2, and Friday, Nov. 3. The Wolverines traveled to Big Rapids last season and defeated the Bulldogs, 2-1, to bring their all-time record to 70-30-4 against Ferris State. U-M is 43-10-2 vs. Ferris State at Yost.
Michigan will take part in the annual Great Lakes Invitational over the holiday break, which will take place at the Little Ceasars Arena for the first time. The 53rd annual GLI Tournament matches U-M against another former CCHA opponent, Bowling Green. The winner of this contest will play the victor of the Michigan State vs. Michigan Tech matchup for the championship. The Wolverines are 82-36-3 against the Falcons, including a 12-5 victory in the 1984 GLI third-place game, Bowling Green's most recent GLI action. Dates and times for the GLI will be announced at a later date.
Michigan closes out the regular season with a home weekend series against Arizona State. The Sun Devils travel to Ann Arbor after hosting the Wolverines last season in the first-ever competition between the two schools. The Maize and Blue came out victorious, winning by a score of 4-1 against the newest member of NCAA DI Hockey.
