ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball program and head coach Mark Rosen announced that transfer Katarina Glavinic will join the Wolverines for the 2018-19 academic year.
A transfer from Seattle University, Glavinic joins incoming freshman signees Kayla Bair, Abbey Malinowski, Erin O'Leary, Grace Persson and Paige Jones, who announced their commitments during the early signing period last November. The incoming class of six is Michigan's largest since 2003.
A 6-foot-3 middle blocker/opposite from Split, Croatia, Glavinic will join the Wolverines after spending her first two seasons of collegiate volleyball at Seattle University. Last season with the Redhawks, she averaged 2.08 kills per set and totaled 212 kills at a .257 attack average. She started all 28 matches and posted 0.97 blocks per set with 99 total blocks on the year. She was selected to the Cal Molten Classic all-tournament Team as well as the SU/UW all-tournament team.
Prior to attending Seattle, Glavinic competed for OK Kastela DC and ZOK Split 1700 club teams. During her club career, she led her team to a state championship title in 2010 and two consecutive third-place finishes at the state championship in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, she was named a team captain and guided her squad to a first-place finish at the Croatian World-Wide Games. Additionally, Glavinic competed with the Croatian National Team in 2014.
"We are very excited to add a student-athlete with Katarina's experience and skill set to our program," said Rosen. "Her ability to impact as a middle blocker or opposite will be very beneficial this upcoming season. The fact that she's coming in with international experience as well as two years of collegiate competition make her a great fit for our needs. She's a student-athlete who places the highest priority on both academic success and competing at the highest level on the court, and we are excited that she will be pursuing excellence in both at the University of Michigan."
Michigan posted a 21-12 record in 2017 and finished the season with its 17th selection to the NCAA Tournament.
