Michigan Back in NCAA Tournament, Matched Against Northeastern

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey team (20-14-3) earned an at-large bid and No. 2Â seed in the NCAA Tournament and will take on No. 3 seed Northeastern (23-9-5) in a Northeast Regional semifinal Saturday (March 24) at DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPNews.
No. 1 seed Cornell and No. 4 seed Boston University are the other teams in the Northeast Regional and will play at 1 p.m. Saturday. The semifinal winners will meet Sunday (March 25) for a spot in the Frozen Four, which is slated for April 5 and 7 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
This season's NCAA Tournament bid is the 37th overall in U-M history, which is tied for the most with Minnesota, and the first since 2016. The Wolverines have a 51-29 record all-time NCAA Tournament record, including a Division I record nine national championships.
U-M enters the NCAA Tournament with a 20-14-3 overall record, marking the 41st time in program history that U-M has reached 20 wins. Michigan earned a No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament with a 11-10-3-2 conference record and knocked off No. 6 seed Wisconsin in the first round before losing to No. 2 seed Ohio State in the semifinals, 3-2, in overtime.
All-session tickets for the NCAA Northeast Regional will be available to Michigan ice hockey season ticket holders on a first-come, first-served basis by logging in to their online account at MGoBlue.com/tickets beginning at 10 a.m. Monday (March 19). The deadline to purchase tickets is noon Tuesday (March 20).
