BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team tied for fourth place with the University of South Florida with 143 points at the Sam Bell Invitational today (Saturday, Sept. 25) at the Indiana University Cross Country Course. Arkansas blew away the competition by scoring 22 points to win the invitational. The Wolverines raced closely with third-place Northwestern (138 points) and Southern Florida but could not pull past either team.
Lisa Ouellet (Sudbury, Ontario/Lasalle SS) was Michigan's only top 10 finisher, crossing the finish line in sixth place with a time of 17:56.7. Other point scorers for the Wolverines were Elizabeth Kampfe (Decatur, Ill./MacArthur HS), finishing in 15th place at 18:21, and Katie Clifford (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Cathloic HS) in 20th at 18:33.8. Erin White (Battle Creek, Mich./Central HS) crossed the finish line at 19:10.5 for 49th place and Katie Ryan (Rochester Hills/Rochester Adams HS) rounded out the Wolverine scoring in 55th place with a time of 19:61.1
After a week off, the women will continue their season Friday (Oct. 8) at the Michigan Intercollegiate in Hillsdale, Mich., at 4:30 p.m.
