CHICAGO, Ill. -- University of Michigan football head coach Rich Rodriguez participated in his initial Big Ten Conference Media Day with seniors Tim Jamison(Riverdale, Ill./Harvey Thornton), Mike Massey(Brecksville, Ohio/St. Ignatius) and Morgan Trent(San Diego, Calif./Orchard Lake St. Mary's, Mich.) held today (July 24) at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The Wolverine quartet will participate in tomorrow morning's roundtable interview session, the autograph session and kickoff luncheon before returning to Ann Arbor.
Rodriguez spoke to the assembled media contingent for approximately 20 minutes and held an informal media session for 10 minutes. Rodriguez joined his players for a rotation of television stations before doing a live interview on ESPNEWS. He finished the afternoon media interviews with sit down interviews for the Big Ten Network.
Following are a few tidbits from both interview sessions and media day:
Rodriguez added that defensive tackle Marquise Slocum is no longer a member of the program because he did not meet team standards both on the field and in the classroom.
The Big Ten Network will be on-site at Michigan football practice on Monday, Aug. 18, to broadcast an All-Access feature on the program. The show will air at 9 p.m. that evening.
In addition, BTN will broadcast its Michigan preview on Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
Ohio State was selected as the preseason favorite to win the league by the conference media attending the kickoff event and was followed in the standings by Wisconsin and Illinois in the second and third slots, respectively.
