2019-20 Photos of the Year: Daryl Marshke
Michigan Athletics and Michigan Photography present the 2019-20 Photos of the Year! Starting July 21-24 and running through July 27-31, you will see what eight photographers from Michigan Photography deem to be their top images covering Michigan Athletics events in 2019-20, a year shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the words of the photographers, you'll read what can go into getting that perfect shot and just why they consider these to be the best of the best. Senior photographer Daryl Marshke continues our Photos of the Year by sharing some of his best images from the past year. Enjoy!

CONNECTING WITH THE TARGET
“The eyes of Alyvia Jones as she connects the racket to the ball with the block M in the background is why this is in my top 10.”
----------------------------------------
ATTITUDE
"The combination of the lighting, fog and poses of seniors (from left) Brooke Cilley, Jada Dayne and Sura Yekka help create a striking image.”

----------------------------------------
TRAIL OF CHALK
“Lexi Funk leaves a cloud of chalk as she completes a backflip while competing on the balance beam at Crisler Center.”

----------------------------------------
‘M’ IS FOR ‘MUSCLES’
“The lighting hits and defines the muscles of wrestler Jelani Embree during the team's photo day prior to the start of the season.”

----------------------------------------

SITTING IN SILENCE
“The Indiana bench can only watch as Akienreh Johnson launches an open three-point shot.”
----------------------------------------

OFF TO WORK
“With a quote from Glen Rice on the wall, Juwan Howard makes his way to the court for the first time as the Michigan men's basketball head coach.”
----------------------------------------

A FINE FINNERTY SAVE
“The mid-air stretch and dirt flying from the cleats of Owen Finnerty during a diving save that gave Michigan a 5-4, penalty-kick victory over Wright State at U-M Soccer Stadium.”
----------------------------------------
THE BALL STOPS HERE
“The diving goalkeeper, Anna Spieker, and Halle O'Neil chopping the stick of a Connecticut player help to deny the Huskies from scoring.”

----------------------------------------
FAMILY
"With smiles and happiness, the Michigan ice hockey team sings ‘The Victors’ with their senior teammates one last time.
