2019-20 Photos of the Year: Eric Bronson
Michigan Athletics and Michigan Photography present the 2019-20 Photos of the Year! Starting July 21-24 and running through July 27-30, you will see what eight photographers from Michigan Photography deem to be their top images covering Michigan Athletics events in 2019-20, a year shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the words of the photographers, you'll read what can go into getting that perfect shot and just why they consider these to be the best of the best. Senior photographer Eric Bronson continues our Photos of the Year by sharing some of his best images from the past year. Enjoy!

STRIKE A POSE
“Women's gymnast Nicoletta Koulos poses on top of a building with the Ann Arbor campus in the background during sunset for a promotional image. This was the most challenging promo shoot with the dwindling sunset, WIND, and finding the right angle for each athlete. Koulos' timing with the sunset and her pose stood out as my favorite from the night.”

OFF LIKE A FLASH
“Promotional image highlighting the famed winged helmet of Michigan Football. There were many takes with different poses, and as most art, you'll only see the success and not the failures.”
----------------------------------------
ALL A BLUR
“Kristofer Siimar and the men's tennis team were good sports when I was trying to get the motion blur from their rackets just right during photo day at the Varsity Tennis Center.”

----------------------------------------
AT YOUR SERVICE
“MacKenzi Welsh serves to Ohio State at Crisler Center. Sometimes sports action lines up perfectly, even the ball!”

----------------------------------------
HIGH EXCITEMENT
Freshman Paul Juda celebrates a hit set on high bar to cement Michigan's 416.500-408.900 over No. 2-ranked Oklahoma on Feb. 15 inside Cliff Keen Arena.
“Pound for pound, gymnasts may be the most incredible athletes to watch. It's no wonder there is a lot of celebration when they land the perfect routine.”

----------------------------------------
LEAP OF FAITH
“Hassan Haskins leaps over rain-soaked Notre Dame defenders. Leaping images are always a descriptive way to show dominance, and the rain adds to the dramatic.”

----------------------------------------
HEADS UP
“My favorite ‘squad’ image of the past year. The volleyball team watches a video prior to defeating Ohio State at Crisler Center.”

----------------------------------------
TEARFUL GOODBYE
“Jon Teske is overcome with emotion as he gives his farewell speech to fans after senior night at Crisler Center. My favorite ‘emotion’ image from this year.”

----------------------------------------
CALM BEFORE THE STORM
“My two favorite images of men's basketball seniors (Jon Teske, left, and Zavier Simpson), both taken in the Blavin Tunnel, during the quiet time before tipoff.”
