Super Mario: U-M Stuns No. 8 Penn State on Final Play
Freshman wide receiver Mario Manningham caught his second touchdown of the game with no time on the clock to lift Michigan to a 27-25 victory over previously unbeaten No. 8 Penn State on Oct. 15, 2005, at Michigan Stadium in front of 111,249 fans.

Sophomore quarterback Chad Henne was 21-for-36 for 212 yard and two touchdowns, including the game-winning toss on the final play of the game. With his two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, Henne tied and surpassed Todd Collins (1991-94) for fifth place in career touchdown passes with 38.

Sophomore tailback Mike Hart, who rushed 23 times for 108 yards and scored eight points on a touchdown and a two-point conversion, recorded his fourth 100-yard or better rushing game of the season.

The Wolverines held Penn State without a point through the first half, marking the second time U-M accomplished the feat against an opponent so far that season. U-M also shut out Eastern Michigan in a 55-0 victory (Sept. 17). Junior cornerback Leon Hall recorded an interception in the fourth quarter.

With eight passes caught for 75 yards against Penn State, senior receiver Jason Avant padded his career reception total to 140, with 53 coming this season, and moved to seventh on Michigan's all-time receptions list.
