ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team announced the first half of its 2021 schedule Thursday (Feb. 4). U-M's 10-game Big Ten-only schedule will feature one home contest and one road contest versus each conference opponent.
The final five games of the slate are expected to be announced in early March. The start of the season was postponed due to health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We are excited to get back out on the field and compete against some great competition in the best conference in the country," said head coach Kevin Conry. "This schedule affords us the opportunity to showcase our talents against the best on a weekly basis. It is an exciting opportunity for our student-athletes."
Phase one of the schedule begins with a road contest at No. 2-ranked Maryland on Saturday, Feb. 20, followed by Michigan's home opener against No. 18 Johns Hopkins on Saturday, Feb. 27, at U-M Lacrosse Stadium.
Following a pair of road matchups at Rutgers (March 6) and No. 12 Ohio State (March 13), U-M returns home to close out the first half of the schedule on March 20 against No. 7 Penn State.
The 2021 Big Ten Tournament will include all six conference teams, with the top two teams in the standings at the end of the regular season receiving an opening-round bye. The first-round games will be hosted at the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds on Saturday, May 1. The semifinals (May 6) and final (May 8) will be hosted at Penn State.
The NCAA Tournament begins with the first round May 15-16, with the quarterfinal round taking place May 22-23. The semifinals (May 29) and championship game (May 31) will be held in East Hartford, Conn.
Times and broadcast designations will be released at a later date.
There is no public access to U-M events due to Big Ten policy currently in place.
