Michigan Baseball alumnus Michael Brdar joined the Michigan Baseball staff as a Program Assistant in January of 2018. Prior to the 2019 season, Brdar made the transition to become the Wolverines' volunteer coach. Brdar works primarily with Michigan's outfield and assists with the hitters.
Prior to returning to Michigan, Brdar spent a season in the minor league ranks of the St. Louis Cardinals organization, where he posted a .235 batting average through 31 games played following his senior season with the Wolverines. Brdar graduated from U-M in 2017 and was soon drafted by the Cardinals in the 36th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
During a two-year stint at Michigan, Brdar was a force for the Maize and Blue at the shortstop position, where he committed just three errors in his senior season and finished with an impressive .969 career fielding percentage. He was named to the All-Big Ten Conference First Team as a senior and earned an ABCA/Rawlings All-Mideast Region second team selection after posting a .310 batting average and leading the Wolverines with 75 hits on the year. His senior leadership at the plate and in the middle infield helped guide the Wolverines to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2015.
Prior to attending Michigan, Brdar spent two years at Diablo Valley College where he was named to the Academic All-State team and led the Big 8 Conference in doubles as a sophomore.
