Francis, Albert and Alvin were all tackles, all wore the number 11 jersey and all were voted first team All-Americans, an accomplishment that has never been duplicated by three brothers on any level of collegiate competition. The first brother to attain national honors was Francis 'Whitey' Wistert, a member of the 1933 Big Ten and national championship team. After a brief stint in professional baseball and as an assistant football coach at Michigan, he practiced law then became a vice president for Eltra Corporation of Toledo, Ohio. He died in 1985. Albert "Ox" Wistert played for Fritz Crisler arid was chosen to the 1942 All-America team. He went on to play professionally with Philadelphia in the NFL before selling life insurance and now resides in Thousand Oaks, California. Alvin "Moose" Wistert was the last of the siblings to play at Michigan. He was the oldest man ever to play football at Michigan at the age of 32 following Marine Corps service in World War II. A transfer from Boston University to Michigan, he eventually became a two-time All-American. Upon graduation, Alvin worked in insurance before becoming a manufacturers' rep. He still resides in Northville, Michigan. The Wisterts all have been enshrined in the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame and inducted into the Michigan Hall of Honor and, of course, the number 11 has been retired.
