University of Michigan Hall of Honor

Bennie McRae
- Induction:
- 2002
Bennie McRae was a two-sport standout while at Michigan in both track and field and football. While competing for the track team, McRae won four Big Ten titles over a two-year period. In 1961, McRae was listed by Track and Field News as one of the top 10 hurdlers in the world. Despite his stellar track success, most remember McRae for his strong performances as left halfback for the football team, which eventually helped him become an All-Big Ten selection in football. After Michigan, he went onto a nine-year career in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and New York Giants.
