David Wilson Campbell

A Manistee, Michigan, native, David Campbell was a member of U-M’s 1962 national championship team where he was named to the College World Series All-Tournament team as a first baseman. He later served as captain of the 1964 Wolverines and earned All-Big Ten first team honors at shortstop. In three seasons at Michigan, the baseball team compiled a record of 71-40, including three second-place finishes in the Big Ten Conference. After the 1964 season, Campbell signed with the Detroit Tigers as a free agent. After playing eight seasons professionally, Campbell turned to a career in broadcasting, which eventually landed him a position as an analyst on ESPN.
