Michael "Campy" Russell was a U-M basketball standout who was elected by a near unanimous vote to be Big Ten Player of the Year in 1974, and he was also selected to the All-America team that same year. During the 1974 season, he led the Big Ten in scoring with 24 points per game and was second in rebounding with 11.3 rebounds per game. Russell continued on to a successful professional career, competing 10 years in the NBA.
