Aigler, Ralph W.

Ralph W. Aigler
- Induction:
- 1982
Professor Ralph W. Aigler dutifully served the Board in Control of Athletics from 1913 to 1955, a period of 42 years of service. Aigler spearheaded Michigan's return to the Big Ten Conference, effective Nov. 20, 1917, after Michigan had withdrawn in 1907. During Aigler’s tenure, the Board instituted its program of “Athletics for All,” which resulted in the completion of Michigan Stadium, the Intramural Sports Building, the Women's Athletic Building and Palmer Field. Yost Fieldhouse also was completed during this era. The leadership Professor Aigler provided on the Board in Control of Athletics through a major transition time and the leadership and influence he provided can still be seen today in the direction of our programs.
