University of Michigan Hall of Honor

Rickey Green
- Induction:
- 1994
One of the best known players in Michigan basketball history, Rickey Green made his mark as a defensive specialist and a natural scorer playing under legendary coach Johnny Orr. What makes Green's Wolverine career truly outstanding is the fact his accomplishments came in only two seasons at U-M. As a junior his first year, Green led Michigan in scoring (19.9 ppg) and helped the Wolverines advance to the 1976 NCAA Championship game. He garnered All-America honorable mention and was named the team's Most Valuable Player. Â In his senior year, Green averaged 19.6 points per game and led Michigan to the Big Ten championship and the NCAA Sweet 16. His total of 1,184 points is the second-most scored by a Michigan player in a two-year span. Green was twice selected to the NCAA All-Tournament team and was an All-Big Ten Conference selection each year. He was a consensus first team All-American and runner-up for the nation's Collegiate Player of the Year award in 1977.
