- 2013
Wolverine football coach Bo Schembechler called Rob Lytle the "toughest running back that he ever coached." Lytle finished third in the 1976 Heisman Trophy balloting after one of the greatest seasons ever achieved by a Michigan back. He set a then-Michigan record with 1,469 rushing yards and was a first team All-American and the Big Ten’s Most Valuable Player. He helped the Wolverines win three Big Ten titles, ran for 3,317 career yards -- the highest total in school history at the time -- and scored 26 touchdowns. Lytle played seven seasons in the NFL for the Denver Broncos, including an appearance in Super Bowl XII. For the Broncos, he had 1,451 yards rushing and 562 yards receiving. He was inducted posthumously into the Hall of Honor after passing away in November 2010 at the age of 56. Photo Gallery
