Tom Brady Shares Big Ten Football Award

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior/junior quarterback Tom Brady (San Mateo, Calif./Serra HS) earned Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors for his play in Michigan's 29-17 win over Michigan State on Sept. 26 in the conference opener. Brady shared the weekly award with Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne.
Brady went 15-for-26 passing for 208 yards in the win over the Spartans in the first Big Ten start of his career. He tossed one touchdown pass and rushed for another score and was named Michigan's player of the game by ABC.
Brady engineered a balanced Wolverine attack against Michigan State that featured 414 yards of total offense, including 206 rushing yards and 208 passing yards.
Brady connected with senior wide receiver Tai Streets (Matteson, Ill./Thornton Township HS) on a five-yard scoring pass in the second quarter to snap a 10-10 tie, and he added the final Michigan points of the afternoon on a one-yard plunge in the fourth quarter. The one-yard run came one play following a 48-yard pass to junior wide receiver Marcus Knight (Sylacauga, Ala./Comer HS).
For the season, Brady is 65-for-105 (.619) for 707 yards and three touchdowns while throwing three interceptions. He has rushed for two touchdowns.
The Wolverines, 2-2 on the season (1-0 in Big Ten play) and ranked 25th in the current Associated Press poll, travel to Iowa on Saturday (Oct. 3). The game will be carried by ABC-TV (3:30 p.m. kickoff, EDT) on a regional basis.
