Women's Netters Host Wolverine Fall Invitational

Senior Brooke Hart (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson HS) finished as the runner-up in the Blue Flight for the second consecutive season, losing in a hard-fought, three-set championship match. Hart won the opening set in a tie-breaker against Martina Nedorostova of Texas A&M but dropped the final two sets (6-7, 6-2, 6-2). Hart raced through the championship flight with victories over Arizona's Vanessa Abel in the first round (6-4, 6-2), Cassie Haas of Texas A&M in the quarterfinals (7-5, 6-3) and Olivia Karlikova of Texas A&M in the semifinals (7-6, 6-3). Hart finished with a 3-1 tournament record and raised her season mark to a team-leading 6-3 record.
Last season's tournament champion, senior Danielle Lund (Leominster, Mass./Leominster HS) was upset in the quarterfinals by Arizona's Michelle Gough in three sets (7-5, 4-6, 6-1). Lund rebounded from the defeat to take fifth place in the Blue Flight and finish with a 3-1 record.
Freshman Joanne Musgrove (LaSalle, Ontario/Sandwich HS) continues to play impressive tennis, finishing second in the Maize Flight singles bracket. Musgrove has a 5-3 record this season after posting a 3-1 tournament record. She lost in the championship final to Arizona's Uzma Khan in three sets (6-0, 4-6, 6-4) after coming from behind to beat Texas A&M's Kathryn Scott in the semifinals (2-6, 6-3, 6-2). Musgrove beat Richmond's Casey Cohen (6-4, 6-3) in the opening round and posted a commanding straight-set victory over Arizona's Laresa Marino in the quarterfinals (6-2, 6-0).
