Hall and Jones Named 1999 Butkus Award Semifinalists

Jones is second on the team with 41 tackles (25 solo, 16 assists) this season, including five TFLs, two sacks and one forced fumble. He was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his performance earlier this season against Wisconsin, tallying 11 tackles in the game and helping hold Badger tailback Ron Dayne to 88 rushing yards. Jones leads the team with 207 career tackles (134 solo, 73 assists) while adding 25 TFLs, nine sacks, four PBUs and one interception in his career.
The list of 11 semifinalists for the award will be pared to three finalists on Thursday, Nov. 11. The winner of the 1999 Butkus Award will be announced at the Butkus Award Gala in Hard Rock Live at Universal Studios City Walk on Friday, Dec. 10.
