Thomas finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds and came close to a triple-double as she added seven steals, tying the eighth best single-game effort in Michigan history. Alison Miller (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven HS) tied Thomas for game-high scoring honors with a career-best 16 points, while Anne Thorius (Horsholm, Denmark/Rungsted Gymnasium) added 15 points and freshman LeeAnn Bies (Lakeview, Mich./Lakeview HS) chipped in 13 points -- 10 in the second half -- and eight rebounds.
The Wolverines never trailed in the game as Thorius hit a three-pointer and later followed up her own miss to help U-M to a 7-0 start. Colorado closed to within one point on several occasions, but Michigan finished the first half with a 10-2 run to take a 33-24 lead into the locker room. At the break, Thomas already had 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals.
Michigan stretched its lead to double digits for the first time as Miller and Ruth Kipping (Quincy, Ill./Quincy HS) each scored inside off feeds from Thorius to open the second half. After the Buffaloes cut the lead to six (39-33), U-M went on an 11-0 run, capped by a Thorius trey, to lead 50-33 with 14:19 to play, and the Wolverines cruised from there.
Michigan, off to a 2-0 start for the third time in coach Sue Guevara's four seasons, returns to action on Wednesday (Nov. 24) as the Wolverines host Cincinnati in their home opener at 7 p.m. in Crisler Arena.
