Langfeld gave Michigan (14-5-0, 10-4-0 CCHA) a 1-0 lead just under three minutes into the first period, snapping a seven-game scoreless streak. He added his second goal of the night four minutes later, and then scored an assist on Kosick's first goal. Langfeld's three points was his highest point total for the season. Matzka also scored an assist on Kosick's first goal, his seventh assist of the season.
Mike Comrie (Edmonton, Alberta) extended his scoring streak to five games with an assist on Andy Hilbert's (Howell, Mich.) eighth goal of the season, giving the Wolverines a 3-0 lead after the first period.
Jeff Jillson (North Smithfield, R.I.) turned in a strong performance for the Wolverines from the blue line as he scored his sixth goal of the season and chipped in two assists. Jillson's goal gave the Wolverines a 4-0 lead early in the second period. Kosick then scored in the first and 10th minutes of the third period to round out Michigan's scoring.
Nebraska-Omaha (4-6-4, 4-6-4 CCHA) spoiled the shutout bid when Ed Cassin's power-play goal with 5:13 left in the game set the final score at 6-1. The power-play goal was the first in the last 22 power-play opportunities for the opposition.

Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "It was a good weekend for Michigan, our team and our standing in the race we're in with Northern Michigan and Michigan State. It puts us in position to have a good shot in the second half [of the season]. It leaves a good taste in our team's mouths, at least in terms of the first half of the season. Going into the Christmas break, I think everybody will feel a little better about where we are and where we're going. Overall, it answered some questions about our goalkeeping, our defense and our offense. It feels good."
On Mark Kosick and Josh Langfeld ... "Kosick was off to a good start -- he scored seven goals in first 10 games -- and then went through a tough spell. Langfeld has been struggling all season. He scored two goals the first game and didn't score another one for the next 10 games. He has been a 20-goal scorer his first two years. It should just be a matter of time until they break out of it. It's good to see some other players chip in. We're more than a one-line team. Mike Comrie's line dominated last night, but tonight we had some other guys step up and put the puck in the net. That was important."
On scoring three goals in the first period ... "I can't tell you we outplayed them that much, but we scored the goals we needed to score. We were able to take them out of the game fairly early, and that was good."
On goaltending ... "(L.J.) Scarpace has got the starting job for now. He played both games, and he played well. He had to play well. He made some hard saves look easy in the first period, particularly on the power play and two or three back door attempts. He's playing with a lot of confidence and making the hard save look easy, and that's a good sign. He's not giving up the bad goals. For now, he's our starting goalie."
Right Wing Josh Langfeld
On his slow start this season ... "It's been a difficult season. When you're struggling, it's always difficult. I'm just glad we won. That's what I'm focusing my attention on. The puck's not going in, but we're winning."
On L.J. Scarpace ... "I think a lot of guys really respect him and know he can play. I don't think he has any more to bring. He's established himself as a great goaltender. It's difficult to score on him in practice. He has a great attitude about the game and has just played really well."
Center Mark Kosick
On this weekend ... "This was a good weekend for us. It puts us up there with Northern [Michigan] and Michigan State for first place in the league. That's huge coming down the stretch. If we'd lost these games this weekend, we would have pretty much shot ourselves in the foot. It was a big weekend for us."
