Logan Captures Seventh, Hrovat Eighth at NCAAs

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- University of Michigan sophomore 141-pounder Damion Logan (Garfield, N.J./St. Joseph's Regional HS) wrestled to a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Championships, while true freshman Andy Hrovat (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Edward's HS) finished in eighth place at 184 pounds in first-session action Saturday (March 20).
One Wolverine still has a match remaining. Sophomore Otto Olson (Everett, Wash./Everett HS) will wrestle for the 174-pound national title against Penn State's Glenn Pritzlaff this evening.
Logan, a first-time All-American, entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed and wrestled six matches, winning four en route to the seventh-place finish. In the seventh-place match, Logan pinned Nebraska's Jose Deanda at 4:55 for his team-leading eighth fall of the year.
Hrovat's storybook freshman season ended with a loss to Central Michigan's Mike Greenfield, a pin at 5:23. In the tournament, Hrovat defeated the No. 7, 8 and 9 seeds to earn All-America honors. Hrovat ended the season with 30 wins against 15 defeats. His 30 wins ties him with Sean Bormet for sixth all-time in wins by a freshman at Michigan.
Saturday's (March 20) championship finals are slated to start at 6:30 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center. Complete results are available on Penn State's NCAA Championships site.
