U-M to Play Four Nationally Televised Games on ABC

Michigan begins the 1999 season against Notre Dame on Saturday, Sept. 4. The game will be televised by ABC and begin at 3:30 p.m. EDT. This will be the 29th meeting between the two schools and the 18th consecutive game in the series to be televised (the 15th straight nationally televised contest).
The 92nd meeting against arch-rival Michigan State will be shown nationally on Saturday, Oct. 9, beginning at noon EDT. This annual showdown for the state bragging rights is the second-most televised series in Michigan football history, having 33 previous contests being broadcast.
U-M appears on ABC on back-to-back weeks as it plays national powers Penn State and Ohio State. The Wolverines' and Nittany Lions' short-lived series is tied at three games apiece (3-3), with the visitors winning four of the six matchups. Michigan has a two-game winning streak heading into State College, when the two schools meet on Saturday, Nov. 13, at noon EST.
"The Big Game," the battle between Ohio State and Michigan will be played for the 96th time, on Saturday, Nov. 20, at noon EST on ABC. The two programs have played 12 straight years on ABC and have had every game in the series televised since 1967 (a string of 32 consecutive games).
Any of the remaining seven Michigan football games may be selected to appear by the networks. Those games can be chosen under the six- and 12-day provisions of their contracts with the Big Ten Conference.
