Michigan Volleyball Rolls Past Toledo

ATHENS, Ga. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team made quick work of the University of Toledo on Friday (Sept. 3) as the Wolverines swept the Rockets 15-5, 15-2, 15-5 in 55 minutes in U-M's second match of the Outback Steakhouse Invitational at the University of Georgia.
The Wolverines played nearly error-free volleyball, posting a .449 (44-9-78) attack percentage with just nine hitting errors, and serving up six aces without an error. Michigan also had more digs (37-22) and blocks (6-2) than Toledo. U-M held the Rockets to a .108 hitting percentage, including .000 marks in the first two games.
Junior middle blocker Joanna Fielder (Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor HS) led a balanced Michigan attack with match highs of 10 kills and three blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Nicole Kacor (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley HS) hit .571 (9-1-14) and led all players with nine digs and three aces. Outside hitter Alija Pittenger (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial HS) added nine kills and seven digs, and middle blocker Annie Maxwell (Santa Barbara, Calif./Santa Barbara HS) hit .833 (5-0-6).
Michigan, which defeated No. 7 Brigham Young earlier Friday and is 2-0 in the tournament, can claim the Outback Steakhouse Invitational title with a win over Georgia in the tourney finale Saturday (Sept. 4) at 5 p.m.

• Nicole Kacor was one dig and one kill shy of the first double-double of her career.
• Six digs matched a career best for fifth-year senior Anne Poglits (West Bloomfield, Mich./Livonia Ladywood HS).
