Thomas Earns Big Ten Player of the Week Award

The 138 yards marks his second best rushing game overall and his best ever in Michigan Stadium. It was his third straight 100-yard rushing game and the seventh of his career. He has scored nine of his 22 career touchdowns in his last three games. Thomas moved past the 1,500-yard mark in career rushing during the game and now has 1,580 yards.
The previous best for Thomas in carries in a game was 21 (vs. Arkansas in Citrus Bowl, Jan. 1, 1999; and vs. Baylor, Sept. 2, 1997), and his overall best rushing game is 183 yards at Hawaii (Nov. 28, 1998).
The Wolverines (1-0), ranked fifth in the USA Today/ESPN poll and sixth by Associated Press, host Rice (0-1) on Saturday (Sept. 11, 12:10 p.m. EDT) on ESPN2.
