Indiana (15-3, 5-2 Big Ten) built its lead to as many as 38 points in the second half and held the Michigan (12-5, 3-3 Big Ten) to season lows in points (50), field goals (16), three-pointers (3) and assists (8). Michigan, which entered the game as the Big Ten Conference leader in scoring (82.6 points per game) and field goal percentage (.491), shot 18.9 percent (7-of-37) in the first half, misfiring on all but four of its first 33 attempts.
Freshman forward LaVell Blanchard (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer HS) led the Wolverines with 19 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, good for the sixth double-double of his rookie season. Jamal Crawford (Renton, Wash./Rainier Beach HS) added 12 points as the only other Michigan player in double figures.
After a week off, the Wolverines will try to halt a two-game losing streak when they host Michigan State on Tuesday (Feb. 1) at 7 p.m. at Crisler Arena. The game will be televised by ESPN.
