The Last Meeting
Michigan State scored two of three power-play goals in the third period of the Grat Lakes Invitational championship game on Dec. 30, 1999, to defeat the Wolverines 3-1. Mike Cammalleri (Richmond Hill, Ontario) scored the lone goal for Michigan on a power play five minutes into the second period. Wolverine goaltender L.J. Against Lake Superior State (Dec. 29) in the first game of the GLI, the group accounted for two goals and three assists.
On A Roll
Since not playing against Wisconsin (Nov. 27), Mark Kosick has been on a tear. In the six games since he did not play, Kosick has led the team in scoring with 6-3-9. Going scoreless against Michigan State (Dec. 30) ended a five-game scoring streak for Kosick.
Comfort Zone
In the games following Thanksgiving, Mike Cammalleri has scored seven points in the last six games and currently has a four-game scoring streak with 2-4-6.
Blackburn's Return
Michigan's top goaltender, Josh Blackburn (Choctaw, Okla.) dressed against Michigan State (Dec. 30) in the championship game of the Great Lakes Invitational. It was the first time since the second game of the season (at Notre Dame on Oct. 8) that he has been in uniform. After suffering a foot injury, Blackburn been out of the lineup for the last 19 games.
Swedish Return
Jeff Jillson (N. Smithfield, R.I.) and Andy Hilbert (Howell, Mich.), who are with the U.S. National Junior team in Sweden for the 2000 World Junior Championship, are scheduled to return to Ann Arbor on Wednesday after playing in the bronze-medal game on Tuesday. In addition, he has been on the ice for three of Michigan's seven short-handed goals forced, while giving up no short-handed goals.
Comrie with a Point

In the remaining 16 games in which Comrie has scored at least one point, the team has posted a record 13-3-0. (The only Michigan win in which he was held scoreless was the 4-2 victory over Miami at the Firstar Center in Cincinnati on Nov. 12. Comrie did not play in the win over Lake Superior State at the GLI on Dec. 29.)
Among the Nation's Leaders

Ringing in the New Year
In the first game of a new calendar year, the Wolverines are 47-26-4 in the 77-year history of the program. Last season, Michigan lost at Ohio State 1-0 on Jan. 2. In the last 10 years, Michigan holds a record of 7-1-2 in games following the New Year.
A New Experience
A win on Friday at Munn Ice Arena would be the first for any of the Michigan players. The last time the Wolverines beat the Spartans in East Lansing was a 5-3 decision on Feb. 4, 1995. Since that time, Michigan is 0-3-1 in the last four games against MSU at Munn.
Blanked
For the first time this season, the sophomore class was held scoreless in consecutive games in the pair of GLI games. Previously, a member of the class had failed to score in just two games, a 6-1 loss to Minnesota (Nov. 26) and a 3-0 loss to Lake Superior State (Nov. 19).
The Home Run
The freshman class has made its impact felt right from the start. In 21 games this season, the group has scored 28 goals, 33.3 percent of the team's goals.
The Sac Fly
The junior class leads the team with 56 assists. That total represents 43.1 percent of the team's total assists so far this season, the most of any class.
The More the Merrier
The Wolverines own a record of 15-0-0 when they score three or more goals and a record of 0-6-0 when they score two or fewer.
High-Powered Offense
Michigan's offense continues to lead the Central Collegiate Hockey Association in both overall and conference scoring average. The Wolverines are scoring 4.14 goals per game in conference play (0.47 more than Northern Michigan) and 4.00 goals per game overall (0.40 more than Northern Michigan).
Solid After Two
Michigan owns a 114-0-4 record in the last 118 games when leading after two periods. The streak dates back to Feb. 11, 1995, when Michigan led the University of Illinois-Chicago 4-3 after two periods before falling 5-4 in overtime.
On the Horizon
-- Mark Kosick's 63 career assists are just 12 away from putting him among the top 50 all-time in career assists at Michigan.
-- In goals, Josh Langfeld needs just five more goals to reach 50 in his career, which will place him among the top 50 all-time for goals in a career at Michigan.
