TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- University of Michigan football player
David Terrell (Richmond, Va./Huguenot HS) is one of 10 semifinalists for the 2000 Biletnikoff Award announced today (Thursday, Oct. 26) by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. This award is presented annually to the best Division I-A wide receiver in the nation and bears the name of Fred Biletnikoff, a College and Professional Football Hall of Famer who played for Florida State University and the Oakland Raiders.
A junior wide receiver, Terrell leads the Wolverines with 46 receptions for 733 yards (15.9 avg.) and eight touchdowns this season. He holds the school record for games in a season with 75 or more receiving yards (eight -- every game this year). An All-America candidate, Terrell lists 12th nationally in total receiving yards (733), ranks 17th in receiving yards (91.63 avg.) per game and is 23rd in receptions (5.75 avg.).
He has caught 131 passes for 1,920 yards and has scored 17 touchdowns during his career. Terrell needs 80 receiving yards to become the seventh Wolverine to reach 2,000 career receiving yards and is 30 catches shy of Anthony Carter's school reception mark (161 receptions).
In addition to Terrell, the list of the 10 semifinalists includes (in alphabetical order): Anthonio Bryant, Pittsburgh; Rod Garner, Clemson; Marvin Minnis, Florida State; Freddie Mitchell, UCLA; Quincy Morgan, Kansas State; Santana Moss, Miami (Fla.); Josh Reed, LSU; Koren Robinson, North Carolina State; Vinny Sutherland, Purdue.
Three finalists for the award will be announced on November 15.
