Michigan Moves to Seventh Place at Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas -- Members of the No. 13-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team competed in the second of three days of competition at the Texas Invitational on Saturday (Dec. 2). U-M moved ahead one spot to seventh place, receiving quality efforts from the relay squads and several balanced efforts from individual swimmers.
U-M was led by the 800-yard freestyle relay team of 2000 U.S. Olympic gold medalist Samantha Arsenault (Peabody, Mass./Gardner HS), senior All-American Jennifer Crisman (Hudsonville, Mich./Jenison HS), sophomore Jenay Karlson (San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) and freshman Lori Eberwein (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) which finished third with a time of 7:23.93.
Arsenault placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in an NCAA consideration time of 1:48.19. Sophomore Traci Valasco (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams HS) also turned in an NCAA consideration time, placing ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:03.73.
The third and final day of competition is Sunday (Dec. 3). Preliminaries start at 9:30 a.m. CST, followed by finals action at 3 p.m.
