Wolverines Compete at Prestigious Mt. SAC Relays

Michigan's top effort from its field athletes came via Charles DeWildt (Wyoming, Mich./Grand Rapids Catholic Central HS), who notched a Michigan outdoor season-best 17-1 in the pole vault. Michigan senior Patrik Johansson (Karlstad, Sweden/Tingvalla Gymansiet) also set a Michigan season best in a field event with his discus throw of 155-6.
Dave Cook (Portage, Mich./Northern HS) gave Michigan's top middle distance performance of the meet with a Michigan season-best 3:53.70 in the 1,500-meter run. Joining Cook at the top of the season-bests list is Derek Applewhite (Brighton, Colo./Brighton HS), who raced to a 14.42 while placing runner-up in the university/open division of the 110-meter hurdles.
Michigan's other top sprint performance came from its foursome of Ike Okenwa (San Diego, Calif./Morse HS), Tony Wishart (Yellow Springs, Ohio/Bellview HS), Kevin Lamb (East Lansing, Mich./Haslett HS) and Josh Sellers (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee HS), which ran a Michigan season-best 3:09.53 in the 4x400-meter relay.
The Maize and Blue return to action next weekend with a quadrangular meet at Ohio State University on Saturday, April 22.
