The Last Time
The Ohio State Triangular marks the second straight outdoor season in which Michigan and Ohio State have faced off in a scored meet in the regular season. Ohio State took part in the Phil Diamond Quadrangular in Ann Arbor in 1999. The Wolverines dominated the competition on that day with 208 points, while Ohio State placed fourth with 122 points. Michigan won eight of the 19 events en route to the victory.

Derr Familiar with Buckeyes
Michigan junior javelin thrower Andy Derr (Lititz, Pa./Warwick HS) will be looking to improve upon his personal-best mark of 211-11 when Michigan faces Ohio State and Seton Hall at the Ohio State Triangular on Saturday (April 22). Derr set that mark the last time Michigan and Ohio State faced off in a scored meet in the regular season, which was at the Phil Diamond Quadrangular in 1999. Derr's toss of 211-11 placed him third at the Phil Diamond Quadrangular, but placed No. 2 on Michigan's all-time list.
Busy Weekend for DeWildt
Michigan junior pole vaulter Charles DeWildt (Wyoming, Mich./Grand Rapids Catholic Central HS) competed in two different meets, won one event and set a Michigan season best in another all in one weekend of competition. On Friday, April 14, at the Mt. SAC Relays, DeWildt delivered a Michigan season-best vault of 17-1. The next day DeWildt joined several Wolverine teammates at the Long Beach State Invitational and promptly gave Michigan its only individual win of the meet with a vault of 16-8. DeWildt's vault of 17-1 is ranked second in the Big Ten this season.
Applewhite Also Delivers Double Duty
Like pole vaulter Charles DeWildt, sophomore hurdler Derek Applewhite (Brighton, Colo./Brighton HS) also competed individually in the both the Mt. SAC Relays (April 14-16) and the Long Beach State Invitational (April 15). In the University/Open division of the 110-meter hurdles at the Mt. SAC Relays, Applewhite placed runner-up with a Michigan season-best time of 14.42. At the Long Beach State Invitational, Applewhite competed in both hurdle races, placing third overall in the 110-meter hurdles (14.57) and fifth overall in the 400-meter hurdles (53.21).
Okenwa Climbs Charts
Michigan sophomore sprinter Ike Okenwa (San Diego, Calif./Morse HS) delivered Michigan season bests in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the Long Beach State Invitational.
