Held Clinches Come-From-Behind Victory at Ohio State

Ohio State won the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, while Held and senior co-captain John Long (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS) posted an 8-6 win at No. 2. The No. 34-ranked tandem of Andrew Carlson and Chris Porter clinched the doubles point for the Buckeyes with a 9-8 victory over senior Matt Wright (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate HS) and sophomore Henry Beam (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norris HS) at the top spot, winning the tie-break 7-0.
Trailing 1-0 heading into singles action, the Wolverines came through with the necessary four victories required to win their third consecutive Big Ten Conference match. Wright won a 6-4, 6-2 match over Carlson at No. 1, Danny McCain (Largo, Fla./Canterbury School) won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 against Vince Ng, sophomore Ben Cox (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake HS) defeated Derek DeFalco 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 and Held provided the clincher.
The Wolverines (13-5) improved to 5-4 in league play with the win, while the Buckeyes (11-9, 5-4 Big Ten) dropped into a tie with Michigan in the conference standings. U-M closes the regular season tomorrow (Sunday, April 23) at Penn State. The match will be held at the Sarni Tennis Center beginning at noon.
