Cato June Suffers Season-Ending ACL Injury

University of Michigan junior/sophomore strong safety Cato June (Washington, D.C./Anacostia HS) suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to the right knee that will require reconstructive surgery within the next two weeks. June will be sidelined for the entire 2000 football season after suffering the non-contact injury during the summer.

June was expected to challenge for the starting strong safety position in 2000 after starting the final four games at free safety in 1999. He played in all 12 games as a redshirt freshman last year, contributing 27 tackles (17 solo), two fumble recoveries, one TFL, one sack, one PBU and returned his lone interception 29 yards. June had his career-best game against Ohio State (Nov. 20, 1999), recording a team-best 10 tackles (seven solo), one TFL, one sack and a fumble recovery.
