STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- For the second week in a row, the 16th-ranked University of Michigan women's cross country team won the team title and senior Katie Jazwinski (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Catholic HS) led the way with her second consecutive individual title, at the Spiked Shoe Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 16) at Penn State.

Michigan's team score of 52 points was enough to win the team title, with West Virginia claiming runner-up honors with 86 points. It marks the second year in a row that the Wolverines have won the Spiked Shoe Invitational.

Jazwinski pulled away from the field to win by a margin of 24 seconds with a time of 20:52.69. Seniors Katy Radkewich (Hudson, Ohio/Beaumont HS) and Julie Froud (St. Mary's, Ontario/ St. Mary's D.C.V.I.) helped the Michigan cause by coming in seventh (21:37.78) and eighth (21:39.72), respectively.

The Wolverines had two other runners in the top 20 out of the 273 competitors. Sophomore Jane Martineau (Mt. Pleasant, Mich./Mt. Pleasant HS) posted a 16th-place finish (22:04.61), and freshman Lindsey Gallo (Freehold, N.J./Howell HS) came in 20th (22:10.58).

Up next for the Wolverines is the William & Mary Invitational next Saturday (Sept. 23) in Williamsburg, Va.
