ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan hockey team held its annual Blue/White intrasquad scrimmage tonight (Friday, Sept. 29) at Yost Ice Arena, and the Blue team defeated the White, 4-2. The scoring was even, as 12 different players found their way onto the scoresheet.

Junior Craig Murray (Penticton, B.C.) led the way with the first goal of the game and later added an assist for a two-point night. Also registering multiple points in the scrimmage were sophomore Andy Hilbert (Howell, Mich.) and walk-on Geoff Kobayashi (Kalamazoo, Mich.) with a goal and an assist each and senior assistant captain Dave Huntzicker (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and sophomore Jed Ortmeyer (Omaha, Neb.) with two assists each.

All three of Michigan's goaltenders saw action in the contest. Kevin O'Malley (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.) played the first period for the Blue team and recorded the win before switching over to play the third period for the White team. Junior Josh Blackburn (Choctaw, Okla.) suffered the loss, while senior L.J. Scarpace (Dearborn, Mich.) played two periods with no decision.

The game, sponsored by Mr. Spots, drew 2,043 fans, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to the Michigan ice hockey scholarship fund.

The Wolverines return to the ice tomorrow night (Saturday, Sept. 30) at 7:05 p.m. to face the Wilfrid Laurier Hawkey Hawks in another exhibition game at Yost Ice Arena.
