Wolverines Fall to North Carolina in Challenge

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The University of Michigan field hockey team suffered its first loss of the season, going down to North Carolina 4-2 on Sunday (Sept. 3) in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at the Anheuser Busch Sports Center.
The Wolverines found themselves behind 2-0 until an unassisted goal by sophomore Jessica Rose (Warwick, Pa./Warwick HS) cut the Tar Heel advantange to 2-1.
North Carolina added to its lead in the second half with two goals to take the score to 4-1. Jessie Veith (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest HS) put in the last goal of the afternoon, assisted by Kelli Gannon (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual HS).
The Wolverines will return to action against Duke University in their final game in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Monday (Sept. 4) at noon CDT.
