CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Michigan men's soccer team fell 3-2 to Loyola University Friday night (Sept. 8). The Wolverines could not stop Nico Tricoci, who had all three Loyola goals in the first loss of the Michigan program.
The Ramblers struck first when Tricoci scored from seven yards out 13:36 into the game. Michigan (2-1) got on the board late in the first half when freshman Kevin Robinson (Caro, Mich/Faith Baptist HS) scored to tie the game 1-1 heading into halftime.
Loyola (3-1) came out quickly in the second half as Tricoci bounced in his second goal of the night at 48:36 when he snuck a header past senior goalkeeper Albert Geldres (St. Clair, Mich./Detroit Country Day School). Tricoci would later add a third goal from five yards out 10 minutes later.
Senior Ryan Yoder (Whitehouse, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) recorded his second assist on the night when senior Jack Stead (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc HS) cut the lead to 3-2 with a header off a corner kick at the 64:53 mark. Michigan was unable to do any more damage offensively and saw its two-game winning streak come to an end.
The Wolverines' next match is against Schoolcraft College on Sunday (Sept. 10) at 2 p.m. on Elbel Field.
