FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- University of Michigan freshman Eric Nystrom (Syosset, N.Y.), a forward on the Wolverines ice hockey team, has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's Rookie of the Week, the league office announced today (Monday, Nov. 19).
Nystrom was honored after posting two goals and an assist for three points as Michigan took three of four points with a 4-4 (ot) tie and 3-2 (ot) win in a two-game CCHA series at Nebraska-Omaha. Nystrom assisted on the game-tying goal with 37 seconds left in regulation in Friday's (Nov. 16) contest before netting two goals, including his first career game-winner, in Saturday's (Nov. 17) victory.
