Beitel Taken in Third Round of WUSA Soccer Draft

Beitel was invited to the 2001 Umbro Select All-Star Classic along with the top senior collegiate soccer players from across the country. The only player from the Big Ten Conference who competed in the event, Beitel participated as a member of the Central squad, which defeated the East 2-1 on Feb. 1 and shut out the West 2-0 on Feb. 2.
A co-captain of the 2000 Michigan team, Beitel became the Wolverines' career scoring leader, finishing with 114 points. During the 2000 season, Beitel accumulated numerous awards and honors, including selection to the NSCAA Division I All-Great Lakes Region First Team and Soccer Buzz All-Great Lakes Regional Team.
Beitel set a school record with eight points in the match against Butler (Oct. 29) and became the first Wolverine to score three goals in two games (the first vs. Illinois in 1997).
A member of the 2000 All-Big Ten First Team and Big Ten All-Tournament team, Beitel led the Big Ten in assists (13) and led the Wolverines in goals (10, tie-5th in Big Ten), assists and points (33, 4th in Big Ten).
