Crisman Again Leads Michigan at NCAA Championships

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. -- Three NCAA All-America Honorable Mention performances led the way for the University of Michigan on Friday (March 16) during the second day of the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Nassau Aquatic Center. Auburn maintained its first-place standing and is at 265 points, with Georgia (261 points) and Stanford (254.5) close behind.
Senior co-captain Jennifer Crisman (Hudsonville, Mich./Jenison HS) turned in another strong performance to pace the Wolverines, adding two NCAA All-America Honorable Mention awards to the three she earned Thursday. Individually, she placed 15th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.03.
Crisman also was part of an NCAA All-America Honorable Mention relay squad. The 200-yard medley relay team of Crisman, sophomores Traci Valasco (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams HS) and Laura Kaznecki (Wolverine Lake, Mich./Western HS), and freshman Annie Weilbacher (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales HS) placed 15th, clocking in at 1:42.80.
In the final event of the day, the 800-yard freestyle relay, senior co-captain Missy Sugar (Newburgh, Ind./Evansville Day School) and freshmen Emily Fenn (Westport, Conn./Gardner HS), Lori Eberwein (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin HS) and Sara Johnson (West Bloomfield, Mich./Lahser HS) combined to place 15th (7:27.32).
The three-day competition wraps up Saturday (March 17), with the preliminary heats beginning at 11 a.m. and finals at 7 p.m. Complete results, along with post-event awards, are available on the NCAA Championships website.
