Wisniewski's Provisional Time Earns Second in 5,000

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team sent a partial squad to the Alex Wilson Invitational meet on Friday night (March 2) at the University of Notre Dame.
Junior Mike Wisniewski (Temperance, Mich./Bedford HS) had an NCAA provisional time in the 5,000-meter run, finishing runner-up in 14:16.28. Wisniewski's best time of the season (14:05.33), has him ranked 13th in the nation, as of Feb. 26.
The distance medley relay was highly competitive as seven teams provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Stanford won the race in a time of 9:38.50, but Michigan's distance medley relay team was unable to get an NCAA provisional time as it came in ninth (10:02.89).
Michigan will have to wait until Monday (March 5) to see which Wolverines will be participating in the NCAA Indoor Championships next weekend (March 9-10) Fayetteville, Ark.
