Others among the 45 players chosen to try out include: Illinois' Frank Williams, Cory Bradford and Brian Cook; Iowa's Reggie Evans and Glen Worley; Indiana's Jared Jeffries; Penn State's Tyler Smith; Michigan State's Marcus Taylor; Duke's Carlos Boozer, Chris Duhon and Mike Dunleavy; Maryland's Lonny Baxter, Juan Dixon and Tahj Holden; and UCLA's Jason Kapono. The final 12-member team will be announced during the team's training camp July 22-30.
Blanchard was named 2001 All-Big Ten Conference second team by the Big Ten coaches and by the Big Ten media. He was also named to the 2001 NABC/Chevrolet All-District 11 first team and was selected as the Big Ten Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 28. He led the Wolverines in scoring (17.8) and rebounding (8.4) for the second straight season. He doubled his double-double career total to 18 after collecting nine in 2000-01, and he scored a career-high 30 points at Iowa (Jan. 20, 2000) to become the first U-M player to hit for 30 points since Louis Bullock did it against Eastern Michigan (Dec. 9, 1998).
