STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Senior Tim Siciliano (San Marcos, Calif./San Marcos HS) and sophomore Dan Ketchum (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) both established McCoy Natatorium pool records on Saturday (Jan. 19) as the No. 11-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team posted wins over No. 20 Penn State and No. 24 Purdue. With a 152-91 victory over Penn State and a 162-81 win over Purdue, the Wolverines improved their record to 6-3 on the year and 3-0 against Big Ten Conference foes.

Senior Tim Siciliano set a McCoy Natatorium record in the 200-yard IM.

Siciliano set a pool record in the 200-yard individual medley and Ketchum established a new mark in the 200-yard freestyle as both won their events while posting NCAA consideration times. Siciliano, the three-time NCAA champion in the 400 individual medley, swam the 200 IM in 1:49.53 to break the previous pool mark of 1:49.86. Ketchum followed with a time of 1:37.22 in the 200-yard freestyle, besting the previous mark of 1:37.22 set by Dave Rafferty of Penn State.

Ketchum contributed another victory in the 200-yard butterfly as Michigan claimed the top two spots in four events while winning six races overall. With a time of 1:48.06 in the 200 fly, Ketchum earned his second NCAA consideration time of the day while also establishing himself in only his first year competing in the event for the Maize and Blue. Sophomore Christian Vanderkaay (Rochester, Mich./Adams HS) followed Ketchum in second place with a time of 1:50.57.

Two other swimmers carried over their torrid pace from the Stanford meet (Jan. 12). Junior Garrett Mangieri (Closter, N.J./Mercersburg Academy, Pa.), who won the 200-yard freestyle against Stanford, placed second in the event on Saturday to Ketchum as well as posting the top time in the 100-yard freestyle with an NCAA consideration mark of 44.78. Freshman Brendan Neligan (Briarwood, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy HS), a double event winner against the Cardinal, led a sweep in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:16.59. Freshman Andrew Hurd (Oakville, Ontario/Trafalger HS) and junior Justin Drake (Phoenix, Ariz./Arcadia HS) followed in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 9:17.23 and 9:19.12, respectively.

In the 200-yard backstroke, junior Ryan Earhart (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier HS) and freshman Chuck Sayao (Mississauga, Ontario/Cawthra Park HS) combined for a 1-2 finish. Earhart took first place when he touched the wall at 1:49.07 and Sayao followed at 1:49.78.

In diving, sophomore Jason Coben (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown HS) made a return to his home state and swept the one- and three-meter competitions. Coben posted NCAA zone qualifying marks in both events with scores of 346.95 on the one-meter board and 321.90 on the three-meter.

Michigan's next dual meet will be on Saturday, Feb. 2, when it travels to Columbus, Ohio, to take on Ohio State at 1 p.m.
