Wolverines Fall at Home to Third-Ranked Nittany Lions

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The fourth-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team fell to third-ranked Penn State 212.250-209.700 on Saturday (Jan. 26) at Cliff Keen Arena. It was the Wolverines' first home loss since Jan. 19, 1999, vs. Ohio State.
The Wolverines were led by juniors Conan Parzuchowski (Northville, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit HS) and Kris Zimmerman (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier HS). Parzuchowski scored 9.400 to edge out teammate Zimmerman (9.300) for the still rings title and placed third on the vault (9.150).
To go along with his silver on the still rings, Zimmerman captured the pommel horse (9.050) and the parallel bars (9.100) titles and tied for fourth on the horizontal bar (8.850).
Freshman Edward Umphrey (Albuquerque, N.M./LaCueva HS) brought home the other individual title for the Wolverines with his 9.350 score on the vault.
The Wolverines return to action next Saturday (Feb. 2) at 7 p.m. CST when they take on No. 1-ranked Oklahoma and Nebraska in Norman, Okla.
