In its 36th year, the All-Star Classic features the best wrestlers in each weight class in college wrestling competing in challenge matches. The top two college wrestlers at each weight class are invited to attend the annual event.
Both Hrovat and Olson have started the season well. Hrovat holds a 19-1 record this season at 184 pounds and is currently ranked third by InterMat. Hrovat is a perfect 4-0 in dual meets and won titles at the Eastern Michigan Open and Cliff Keen Invitational earlier this season.
Olson, ranked second in the nation at 174 pounds by InterMat, collected his 150th career win on Jan. 4 with a 12-1 major decision over Lehigh's Brad Dillon. Olson holds a perfect 17-0 record this season and is 4-0 in dual meets. Olson won titles at the Eastern Michigan Open, Michigan State Open, and Cliff Keen Invitational.
This year marks the third consecutive season in which Olson has been selected to compete in the All-Star Classic. In 2000, he was selected but was unable to compete due to a season-ending knee injury. Last season, Olson lost a 6-1 decision to No. 1-ranked Josh Koscheck of Edinboro. This season will mark Hrovat's first appearance at the All-Star Classic.
