Feldkamp Leads Wolverines at Michigan Intercollegiate

MILFORD, Mich. -- With the NCAA Pre-Nationals one week away University of Michigan women's cross country head coach Mike McGuire rested his top harriers Friday afternoon (Oct. 11) at the Michigan Intercollegiate as the No. 19 Wolverines finished third overall with 58 points at the 4,000-meter Possum Hollow course at Kensington Metropark.
Redshirt freshman Theresa Feldkamp (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele HS) led Michigan across the line with a personal-best eighth-place finish at 15:35.2 in the first 4,000-meter race of her career. Following Feldkamp across the line was sophomore Jessica Wagner (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's HS), who finished 11th in 16:00.6. Senior Katie Easton (Fort Gratiot, Mich./Port Huron Northern HS) finished 17th when she stopped the clock in 16:08.3 in her first race of the season.
Freshman Jennifer Leichtman (Ann Arbor, Mich./Greenhills HS) clocked in at 16:27.4 for a 23rd-place overall finish. Two other Wolverines competed for the first time this season as redshirt freshmen Erika Flannery (Perry, Mich./Perry HS) and Jennifer Wendling (Chesaning, Mich./New Lothrop HS) finished 35th and 37th, respectively, with times of 17:11.7 and 17:16.4.
The Wolverines return to Terre Haute, Ind., for the NCAA Pre-Nationals on the 6,000-meter LaVern Gibson Championship Course next Saturday (Oct. 19) with start time scheduled for 11 a.m. EST/CDT.
