2002 FBL at Purdue -- Postgame Notes

Michigan won its 10th game all-time (10-6 record) at Ross-Ade Stadium and in the process ended a two-game losing streak at the facility.
Senior/junior quarterback John Navarre had a career-best passing day at Purdue, throwing for a career-high 271 yards on 17-of-35 passing and one touchdown.
John Navarre interception thrown at Purdue is his first since the final play of the Notre Dame game. Navarre went 135 passing attempts without an interception. Navarre's pass intended for Braylon Edwards on the opening offensive play of the third quarter was intercepted by cornerback Jacques Reeves at the Purdue 26-yard line.
Senior wide receiver Ronald Bellamy set a career high in receptions at Purdue, catching a team-best seven passes for 83 yards. He fell three yards short of his career-best 86-yard receiving effort at Penn State last season.
Sophomore wide receiver Braylon Edwards caught a touchdown pass for the fourth consecutive game and sixth time in seven games this season (held without a TD at Notre Dame). Edwards caught a 31-yard TD pass during the third quarter and finished the game with three receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown at Purdue.
Marlin Jackson and Jeremy LeSueur tied for the team lead with eight tackles in the game. Jackson added a tackle for loss and LeSueur contributed two pass breakups.
Fifth-year senior outside linebacker Victor Hobson contributed seven tackles and three tackles for loss against the Boilermakers. Hobson leads the team in tackles (51) and tackles for loss (nine) this season.
Junior inside linebacker Zach Kaufman had a big game at Purdue, registering career highs in tackles (seven) and pass breakups (three) and gaining his first career interception. He also had one tackle for loss and one sack.
Sophomore cornerback Markus Curry collected his second career interception with 5:30 remaining in the fourth quarter to stop a Purdue scoring threat. Curry added five tackles in the game.
Junior wide receiver Calvin Bell scored his first touchdown of the season and fourth career TD on a reverse. Bell took the end around from Chris Perry and used the wall of blockers to move 34 yards for the touchdown.
The Wolverines collected four sacks against Purdue, raising their Big Ten-leading sack total to 26 this season. Zach Kaufman and Larry Stevens picked up stops in the first half, while Shantee Orr and the duo of Alain Kashama and Dan Rumishek combined for a sack late in the game.
Senior fullback B.J. Askew scored on a one-yard run at the 13:23 mark of the second quarter, his first rushing TD of the season. Askew scored a career-best 10 rushing TDs last season and has 12 in his career. Askew finished the game with a season-best 16 carries for 42 yards and one TD while adding three receptions for 73 yards.
Senior/junior defensive end Shantee Orr returned to the lineup at Purdue after missing the first two Big Ten games following an injury against Utah. Orr made his first appearance at the 7:00 mark of the first quarter and forced a false start by the Boilermakers. Orr tallied two tackles, one TFL and one sack.
Senior cornerback Brandon Williams served as the special teams game captain at Purdue. Williams played on special teams and cornerback against the Boilermakers, contributing two tackles.
