Blue Tops Maize in Michigan Men's Basketball Intrasquad

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Blue team defeated the Maize team 53-42 in the University of Michigan men's basketball team instrasquad scrimmage Saturday (Oct. 26) in front of a crowd of 4,619 at Crisler Arena. The Blue squad led most of the way, benefiting from a 17-7 advantage at the free throw line.

The Maize squad also saw three players reach double digits in scoring. Freshman Lester Abram (Pontiac, Mich./Northern HS) led the team with 12 points, while freshman Graham Brown (Mio, Mich./Mio-AuSable HS) and sophomore Chuck Bailey (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King HS) each scored 11 and grabbed three rebounds. Rookie point guard Daniel Horton (Cedar Hills, Texas/Cedar Hills HS) finished with two points, three rebounds and three assists.
Senior tri-captain LaVell Blanchard (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer HS) did not play due to an ankle sprain.
The Wolverines will open the season on Friday (Nov. 1) with an exhibition game against Wayne State. The game will be played at Crisler Arena at 7 p.m.
