Fronzoni Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Junior forward April Fronzoni (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West HS), a member of the University of Michigan field hockey team, has been named the Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday (Oct. 28).

With Fronzoni's honor, five Michigan players have earned Big Ten Player of the Week awards this season, and a Wolverine has received the laurel in six of the eight weeks the honors have been awarded, including each of the last five. In addition, Fronzoni and senior forward Molly Powers (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest HS) are the only players in the confernece to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors twice this year.
No. 2 Michigan (15-2, 6-0 Big Ten), the 2002 Big Ten regular-season champion, will conclude the regular-season portion of its schedule this weekend, traveling to Durham, N.C., for a pair of non-conference matches. The Wolverines will open the trip at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 2) against Virginia before facing Duke at 2 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 3). Both matches will be staged at Williams Field on the campus of Duke University.
